Coaching has helped me to realise its ok to prioritise myself in a busy family dynamic and to give me the confidence to deal with situations i previously felt uncomfortable with.
— SIm (Mum of 2)

Coaching can be a vital support and it should be there for everyone, despite your financial situation Coaching is not a one-off fix, but a great life investment; it can help people access a deeper level of self-directed learning and develop personalised tools which can be utilised in a whole host of everyday situations life presents.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

My personal struggle of returning to work after maternity leave led me to seek coaching and in turn become a coach. The power of this process drew me to coach lots of other people who were seeking support to help them navigate their way through parenthood and having witnessed the results I wanted to make coaching accessible to EVERYONE.

The early years of parenting are far from being your ‘richest time’; clothing, feeding and looking after children is expensive on top of childcare fees, dwindling maternity pay and managing on part time salaries - people are often left with little money for anything else.

WHY NOW?

Lockdown has shined a light on the juggle of parenthood. The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic has required people to ‘step up’ their roles at home, leaving careers on the back-burner as they try to balance ‘home-work’ and ‘work-work’. This has particularly impacted single-parent households, women and lower income families. The Institute of Fiscal Studies finds job losses so far have disproportionally hit women and people on maternity leave are also being impacted. Parents have been caring, working, teaching & surviving under one roof – fulfilling parental, social, financial and career obligations whilst trying to look after their own mental health. Support is important, not just for people’s futures, careers and mental health, but for the future of their children and families.

A bit more info about the Fantastic ‘Back Her Business’ Campaign and how it works?

In 2019 the Treasury commissioned Alison Rose to lead an independent review of female entrepreneurship. The Rose Review shed renewed light on the many barriers faced by women starting and growing businesses and identified ways of unlocking untapped talent. The report revealed that only 5.6% of women run their own business, showed that women are half as likely as men to start a business and if women did start business at the same rate of men it would add £250bn to the UK economy!

Natwest’s fantastic campaign is working to make this happen by investing in start up’s. For my business this campaign has given me the opportunity to kickstart the social enterprise side - making coaching accessible to all parents; providing free 1to1 and group coaching sessions for those who need it (but where finance or other access needs are a barrier).
